Random Thoughts On Recruiting – E Pluribus Unum

E Pluribus Unum – Out of many, one.  I don’t know where I heard this the other day, but of course it rings a big bell with me.  No matter how you recruit, I still believe it always comes down to this.  The way a recruiter gets to the one is what makes them unique, but it is still a process of eliminating the many to find the one.

Of course there is almost always more than one person that could fill a job, but the concept is still the same.  The thing I like about this phrase is the focus on what recruiting really is, finding not creating.  Whatever your system of recruiting, if it efficiently finds the people who may fit the position, it works.  The key then, with a solid system, is to do more of it and do it efficiently.  Many people in our business try to make it complicated.  It’s not.  Out of many, one.  That’s all it takes.
