Random Thoughts On Recruiting – What’s Hot and What’s Not

September 14, 2010 Leave a comment Go to comments

We had some collections positions close today. That’s a little surprising as this has been on ongoing hot need. And why wouldn’t it be.

Collections has been very hot, especially medical collections. Medical billing has as well along with nursing and physician positions. In particular, nursing within specialized niches have been hot.

We’ve also seen strenght in plastics, injection molding, metals and metals services. These are areas that feed into basic manufacturing so despite a negative economic outlook, that is a really good sign.

On the weak side, building and construction and related areas seem to lead the pack. Despite seemingly better business in autos, auto and auto suppliers have remained weak. We’ve seen good sales work in certain industries, but not overall. IT has been spotty as well and management outside of healthcare pretty weak.

So that is a non scientific view of what we’ve seen lately. There’s business out there, but you’ve got to be smart and you’ve got to work for it.
