Random Thoughts On Recruiting – Live Today

September 23, 2010 Leave a comment Go to comments

A good friend of mine passed away the other day, very prematurely.  For me, he was the second friend in the last couple of years who died way too early in life.  I thought of the quote, “Yesterday is gone, tomorrow may never come, but if you live today you can change the world”.

At least you can change your world.  Sometimes we lose site of that and it takes an event like this to remind us that our opportunity to live is now and there is no guarantee of how long it will last.  Live in the moment and love what you do.  I don’t think that means we have to run off and climb a mountain or jump out of a plane.  I love the recruiting business and building it is tremendously rewarding.  I think it is really important to live in the moment and embrace the challenges and blessings in life.  All of your experiences make up your story and if you spend time mentally in the past or worrying about the future, you’ll miss your life.

I posted this link on Facebook today, because my son’s Boy Scout Troop really embraces that live now perspective.  If you have the time, these are some great pictures from the longest Boy Scout Trip ever (3700 miles and about 66 days biking across the country with no support vehicles and carrying all their stuff).  http://www.troop845.net/cycle20ten-ride-photos/

The pictures are great if you have time.  More importantly, embrace your challenges and live now.  You really don’t know how long you have.
