Random Thoughts On Recruiting – Building A Great System

October 16, 2010 Leave a comment Go to comments

My wife is out of town so I had a chance to watch a little playoff baseball last night. I’m not a Yankee fan, but they are worth watching for all of us.

Last night, Texas took a 5 – 0 lead into the late part of the game at home. The Yankeed pecked away with a run and then scored 5 more in the 8th inning to win. They do this all the time.

How do they do it? They have an incredible system. Yes, they get many of the best players, but that is part of the system in the game they compete in. But they also play great fundamental baseball all the time, and they do it without emotion. Without letting up, like consumate professionals.

Those of us who run small businesses can take a lot from this. We are constantly working to improve our system, make it stronger, and run it with perfect fundamentals and relentless, emotionless effort. It’s a beautiful thing. I’m not a Yankee fan, but I’m thankful for the example they provide.
