Random Thoughts On Recruiting – Goals, Know What You Want

I’m reading Too Big To Fail by Andrew Sorkin.  The book covers the inside story of the financial crisis in ’08 and it’s a fascinating read.

Part of what I love about books like this is getting a good feel for other career paths and lives.  While I love the stories and many of the people in the book had reached great career and earning levels, I wouldn’t want to be any of them.  That life is just not what I want.  In our business, you see how there are many ways to skin a cat.  I’ve seen some posts recently from someone putting together a different model for recruiting.  It’s a really interesting model, although not an approach I would take.

In all businesses, but in recruiting in particular, it is extremely important to know what you want to be and then put together a program to get there.  When people set goals without that clear picture of what they want to be, it’s difficult to make a solid plan to make it happen.
