Random Thoughts On Recruiting – Great Systems

September 25, 2011 Leave a comment Go to comments

Football season is great, and I love the crystal clear examples that sports can give us and how they relate to business.

In the NFL, great systems win.  We see teams with great systems…the Patriots, Steelers, and Packers are a few.  We see coaches come out of those systems and strive to duplicate and improve on these systems.  It’s really great to watch it all develop and play out.

Every successful recruiter, agency, corporate recruiting operation, mid-sized, and small HR department that handles recruiting has a system.  The best have well established systems and they look for ways to tweak and tune them to make them perform better.

The great football teams and the great recruiting operations focus on activity and the overall results.  They don’t evaluate the system on one drive that fails to produce points or one placement that doesn’t happen.

Put together a system that makes sense, run it and watch the overall results, fine tune it to improve those results.
