2012 Looks Really Good Right Now…….But….

December 2, 2011 Leave a comment Go to comments

We’ve had a really busy week again and business continues to be really strong.  I’ve talked with clients in various industries lately and, despite some of the news and things we know, business shows nothing but strong signs for them and for us.

We have some clients who have always seemed to be ahead of the curve and they have a lot going on.  We have others in industries that seem to lead and when business is strong for them it leads to strong business in other industries.  Things are good there too, and in the last couple of years things have not been strong in those areas.  So 2012 looks really good right now.  I’m excited about it and have big expectations.  But…..

But, you never know what is around the corner.  I felt great about things at the end of ’07 too.  Coming off the bubble burst of ’08 we are all a little more guarded (topic for another day, but this is one of the best things we have going for us).  There are fundamentals out there in the world and in this country that are just horrible.  There is way too much debt both individually and for our country and other parts of the world.  It doesn’t appear that the U.S., and maybe even the rest of the world, has come to grips with the bursting of the bubble.  We want to re-inflate it, live the old way.  These things lead to hard economic times and probably for quite some time.

And we are in hard economic times.  There is no real overall growth out there and the long term unemployment in this country is a real long term societal problem.  With all of this in mind, anything can happen next year.  We all have to be prepared for these possibilities if we want to survive and thrive.

But the numbers don’t lie, and right now the numbers say things are good.
