Adversity
The ability to deal with adversity is something you learn.
Last night my son left for a Boy Scout ski trip, but he forgot to load his pack in one of the vehicles going. Truth be told, it was partially my fault because I had set his pack aside, but ultimately he is responsible for himself and his gear.
When they arrived and he found that he had nothing but the clothes he had on for the entire weekend, he was rightfully upset. This morning I checked with one of the adult leaders on the trip and he said he was fine. Recently he told me that every experience is good, even the ones that seem bad, because you learn from them and get better. The kid gets it.
Those of us in recruiting know what he’s talking about.
