Paying Attention, Taking Notice

February 7, 2012 Leave a comment Go to comments

Today we had a job go on hold.  Nothing too extraordinary there.  It happens for various reasons.

Minutes later, we got word that another client had to put a couple of positions on hold.  Coincidence?  Probably, but two in a row like that will make you take notice.  These are completely different positions in different industries.  Back in ’08 we had a client put all of their jobs on hold and that was the first sign that things were really turning negative.

I don’t believe things are turning negative now.  We are extremely busy and had great activity today including new clients and new jobs.  More than likely this was just an odd coincidence, but we’ll pay attention and watch for others that go on hold or pull back in some way.  Recruiting is a momentum game in so many ways and the big picture is definitely part of that.
