Jobs Reports

Some interesting comments today about the various jobs reports we are seeing.

We hear that employers are saying more and more that they can’t find the high-end skilled workers that they need, especially in Healthcare and IT.  We see that the numbers of job cuts and expected job cuts are coming down from higher numbers in the spring.  Companies are cutting back less.

We see hiring up in Aerospace/Defense and in Healthcare and IT of course.  We see hiring down in Education, Transportation, and Retail.  Manufacturing jobs are steady.  In the breakdown of who is doing the most hiring, small companies are leading the way.  The heaviest hiring is in companies with 50 or fewer employees.

There is a lot to take from the information coming out today and tomorrow.  Fewer cuts is really good news.  Companies are always either on the defensive or growing, so if they aren’t on the defensive then they are looking to grow.  That’s great for recruiting.  The skills gap?  It is real and it is hard to find the right people that a lot of companies need.
