Made In China

The big uproar yesterday and today is about how the US Olympic Team uniforms were made in China.

Are we really upset about this?  Wouldn’t the world be a much better place if every purchasing decision was made based on whether it was the best deal or not and not because the supplier is a US company, or the CEO is somebody’s buddy, or the rep is someone who took you on a junket?  Do we really think that the solution is to have everyone buy American?

China is going to have a rising middle class and upper middle class over the next 30 plus years.  They aren’t the problem.  They are the opportunity.  As the world middle class grows, we should all forget about where things are made and go do business.  We’ll all benefit.
