Recruiters Should Stop Accepting Resumes?

Are you kidding? Every time I read one of these articles I have to shake my head and laugh.

The resume isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. It will continue to evolve to fit in with modern communication, but there is no sign at all that employers will accept a LinkedIn profile instead of a resume.

Maybe there is an agenda behind these articles or blogs. The simple fact is, the resume is the perfect first step. The official doc showing a candidate’s background and skill set. Sure, online profiles are great for a deeper look, and they have already evolved into that use.

Employers require a resume and, from what I’ve seen, they always will. They also want to look deeper at candidates of interest, so if you want to be that candidate you may want to provide those online profile links in a cover letter or e-mail submission to make it easier for the person on the other end.
