The Qualified Interested Candidate

If you take all of the people in the world who are qualified for a given position, you can break them down into three groups. Those who are Interested, those who are Open, and those who are Not Open.

Some in our industry believe that only passive candidates are desirable, those who are not open to the change and need to be sold on the move. But whether a candidate is Interested, Open, or Not Open has nothing to do with their qualifications.

All qualified candidates are valuable as long as they can become Interested. It doesn’t matter if you cause them to be Interested or if they already are. You might fill more positions if you find the ones that already are.

They are valuable when they become interested and/or when they provide a referral for someone who is interested!
