Should Recruiters Care About The Unemployed?

September 28, 2012 Leave a comment Go to comments

Yes. And No.

It’s not a recruiter’s job or the industry’s job to solve the unemployment problem. If you make it your job you are misplacing your energy, and that doesn’t help.

Of course we all care about the unemployment problem. It’s a horrible thing for anyone to have to go through. In addition to that, the overall unemployment problem (a large amount of people unemployed for a long time) is a huge anchor holding back our economy and that hurts everyone.

Where recruiters can help is not in getting jobs for those that are unemployed. That may happen but our focus, and what we do well, is to help companies find the key people that are hard to find and that they need. This makes businesses stronger, right away, and allows them to grow so they can hire more people.

The solution to unemployment is stronger businesses.
