But What About Placements?

November 27, 2012 Leave a comment Go to comments

There is an interesting debate going on in baseball over Sabermetrics. Sabermetrics is basically statistical analysis used to measure performance and put a value on players. Moneyball.

The debate is around the AL MVP vote, but a better point about the metrics involves pitchers. The metrics use all kinds of stats, but they don’t put significant value on wins. Sounds like baseball has caught up with recruiting metrics. We measure all kinds of things and spin the stats to mean whatever we want them to mean. But what about placements?

We have to be careful with metrics and keep from fooling ourselves.
