Screw Ups Are Okay If

…..you are customer focused, honest, and you work to correct the problem. In the recent interview with Tim Cook he was asked about the issues with Maps on new Apple products.

His answer was that they were trying to provide things that they know would be better for customers and not available from other providers. Turn by turn directions, voice integration, flyover. However, in their effort to provide this they had a number of errors in the product. That’s a problem but the fact that they fully admit it, that they are committed to fixing it, and that the focus is on delivering value to their customers says a lot.

And it’s important to remember that we all mess up from time to time. WHAT WE DO to correct the problem often can leave the customer with a better feeling about us and our services/products than they had previously. Do nothing or tick the customer off by not appearing to WANT to do anything, and you only multiply the bad image…and you start to negatively brand your products AND YOURSELF.
