Overqualified Isn’t Qualified

It’s easy for recruiters to fall into the “but he can do the job” mindset. “She’s got more than enough experience.”

That thought process is centered on the recruiter and the fee. It’s not focused on the client and the candidate. The overqualified candidate won’t be happy for long in the role he is overqualified for and hiring managers want the right fit for a specific role in order to make their business as good as it can be. They aren’t looking for someone who can do the job but is at a different point in their career than the role calls for. That’s trading one problem for another.
