Professional Development

January 20, 2013 Leave a comment Go to comments

I’m taking my sons to a basketball game. The University of North Carolina Tar Heels vs the Miami Hurricanes. This will be good for them because the Tar Heels are right where they are, developing.

This is one of those years where the Heels aren’t all that strong, but do have raw talent. Typically, in a year like this, as the season moves along they get better and better. My sons both want to be better than they are, and they want it now. So we talk a lot about how to get better, and mostly about how playing a lot is the best way to develop as quickly as possible. And they are significantly better than they were just a couple of months ago.

The same thing happens in business and recruiting. The more you do it, the better you get. You want it to happen faster than it does, but then it happens faster than you think.
