The Value of Old Stories

February 24, 2013 Leave a comment Go to comments

Old stories are great, but in recruiting it really makes sense to go back and dig some up.

Too often we get caught up in filling the hiring manager’s need and that’s it. We hear complaints about why they aren’t hiring a certain person, not settling, or looking at the search differently. We lose sight of what we are really recruiting for. To impact the company in a real way.

So, when the opportunity is there, ask your hiring manager about a former placement. How did it work out. Some may not have been perfect, but many of the stories you’ll hear will make you smile. More importantly, they will give you a real good picture of the impact recruiting had on that company.

People make the business and key hires have by far the biggest impact.
