Times have changed, not just in recruiting, and the old middle management brainwashing is being flushed out of the system.

We still see it in some places because middle managers want to hang onto the old ways. It gives them a purpose. Sales is a numbers game, but it’s not a game of trickery or illusion. The big pitch filled with lines meant to coerce. Recruiting is not about the recruiter and his or her ability to convince the candidate. People are connected, have more access to information than they have ever had, and therefore are able to see through a charade.

The brainwashed have a hard time letting go, but they can’t compete with those who are connected and aware.
