Facebook Friends Help You Find A Job, But…..

This article talks about how, in a tough economy, your Facebook Friends are most likely to help you find a job. While this is true, that doesn’t make Facebook good for recruiting.

Your Facebook Friend helping you find a job is no different than a friend, relative, or neighbor helping you find a job in the past. It is an expanded network, but still the same thing. Company referrals of friends or family are definitely an important part of the human resources equation and they always have been. Maximizing that makes sense, but it doesn’t fill the critical challenging hires that recruiting does. You don’t want to make the mistake of seeing this kind of study and then determining from it that recruiting on Facebook is going to lead to great success.
