Counter Offers

There is a lot written and talked about regarding counter offers. Touchy subject and most opinions you hear about how to prep for them or handle them amount to salesmanship.

You really have to ask yourself if you want to play head games with a candidate who is inclined to take a counter. If it is only about getting a little more money, is this the right fit? How loyal is that candidate going to be as an employee and how long will they be there?

Counters are really just a part of the process of finding the right fit. Sure, we’d rather not waste time with a candidate who will take one and stay, but it’s all part of the process designed to find the right hire.
