Attention Deficit

If you walk through the appliance department in the store, but aren’t in the market for a refrigerator, you don’t pay much attention. You are reachable, but your attention isn’t. Same thing with car commercials. They don’t do much if you have no interest in a new car.

As people become more and more connected, the one thing that won’t change is that we only have so much room for attention. A person with the right qualifications is not in the candidate pool if their attention is out of reach. Attention, however, is in a constant state of change and that puts the potential candidate pool for every search in a constant state of change.

Our challenge is to be there when when the right candidate, and his or her attention, enters the pool.
