Mainstream Use

Skype was released in 2003 and yet video and digital interviews are still not really mainstream.

They are getting there though. We now see a lot more use of video interviews with various tools and services and digital interviews (video interviews recorded for hiring managers to view when they can). These tools provide real solid improvement to the recruiting process and they provide a good example of the timeline and degree of changes in our industry.

It’s not all that fast, but it is real. Today, most candidates have access to a computer or tablet with a camera and it doesn’t cost much to send them one if they don’t. Long after the technology was available, the tools are starting to reach a common use level.
