Changing Perspective on Job Hopping

December 12, 2014 Leave a comment Go to comments

The general perspective on job hopping has changed slowly over the last 10 years or so.  It used to be that a couple of quick moves would eliminate candidates from most opportunities.  Now some movement is generally acceptable.

Some of this perspective shift comes from the fact that career paths in general have changed.  It’s hard to find someone who stays with one company for an entire career any more.  The fortunes of businesses both large and small change more these days and that also helps explain a lot of the moves we see.  The Great Recession has something to do with that.  We’ve also heard more recently from companies that value varied experiences and are a little gun shy of a candidate that has been in one place for too long.  So it’s best as recruiters to change our perspective on moves to stay in line with what the market is.
